Custom regulations
Special formalities
Some goods are subject to particular regulations on entering
or leaving the Community. Exporting or importing them is forbidden
in the following cases :
animal products
vegetable products
species of wild flora and fauna threatened
with extinction and products thereof (Washington Convention)
live animals (cats & dogs in particular)
medicine & medical products (except those prescribed for a
traveller's personal use)
weapons & ammunition
'objets d’art' & collectors items.

Personal belongings
When you go abroad with your own personal
belongings such as a camcorder, camera, musical instrument,
weapon or jewelry (over 500g ), on departure, the customs
will provide you with a 'free-mover' card if you show them
a copy of the relevant invoice.

Forgery
Prohibited for
goods from any part of the world. It is strictly forbidden
to be in possession of any forged objects from any country
of origin, from within the EU, or any third country.
In France, since the law of
5 February 1994, which reinforced existing legislation, simply
being in possession of forged goods can result in heavy penalties
: the immediate confiscation of goods, a heavy customs fine
or legal proceedings...
Warning
:
No allowances will be made, even for items for personal use.
This ban on possessing forged goods holds whatever the nature,
quantity, value and purpose of the item in possession.

Customs formalities
Identity cards, passports, visas, health
formalities...
To cross some borders, you need an identity card or a passport.
A visa will be required to enter particular countries. Ask
for information at a police station or at your 'département's'
'Préfecture'. Similarly, to obtain information about the health
formalities that have to be carried out, ask your family doctor
or your airline company...
