Rationalising the use of energy
Current actions
Key data
Context Four
sources of energy are used at Nice Airport: electricity, gas,
water and fuel. In terms of overall consumption, the airport
can easily be compared to a small town.
In 2002, Nice Airport consumed:
623,453m3 of gas
37.2 Giga Watts of electricity, as much as a town ......
5,183,842m3 of water, as much as a town... (A family of 4 living
in an apartment consumes approximately 120m3 per year).
X litres litres of fuel produced 1.09 Giga Watts of electricity
via generators*
*Today, a new contract
is in place that relegates this energy source to a back up option
for the other sources and/or to meet one-off requests from the
air base department.
Rationalising the use of energy
A remote monitoring system means
that energy consumption at the airport can be monitored in real
time. Everyday, consumption levels are analysed in order to
compensate for any deviations from the norm.

Current actions
Study on implementing a new system to operate street lighting
in real time by remote control.
An "Energy Savings Strategy" working party is studying
automated control systems applied to new facilities.
Key data
85%
of technical facilities at the airport are tied into an automated
control system (reduced energy consumption, rational usage).
