Context
Water: a resource that must be preserved
Nice Côte d'Azur Airport
extracts the water it needs to function (drinking water, water
for plants and gardens, air conditioning, fire fighting) directly
from the ground. Water extraction occurs away from all other
activities at the airport and is thus not contaminated by contact
with any other facilities.
In an effort to preserve the fragile balance of ground water,
continuous readings are taken to gage its level, its physico-chemical
properties, etc.
Salinity levels are monitored to ensure salt does not make its
way into the water, rendering it unfit for human consumption.
Water: closely monitored emissions
A network of over 30 kilometres
of pipes distributes and collects rain water and wastewater.
The latter is directed to Haliotis, the City of Nice's purification
station, where it is processed before being returned to nature.
Current actions
Quarterly checks on the quality of the water to monitor any
ground pollution.
Installing hydrocarbon separators to collect industrial and
rain water.
